Super Tuesday
I’m starting to do a little study of the candidates now that the field has narrowed quite a bit and we are getting closer to February 5, “Super Tuesday.” I am not registered under any party, so I will not be able to vote in the Republican race. The Democrats will let me vote, so I still feel like I can have some say. I take that seriously because here in California the democrats are the majority so our state’s delegates will likely go blue on election day. I found this comparison site, and I haven’t been through it in depth, but it seems to have legitimate sources. I feel like McCain is the weaker of the two republican candidates, and a nomination for him would secure victory for the democrat’s candidate regardless of who it is. Romney seems to be better prepared for a battle for the presidency. Obama seems to be a better pick over Clinton to me, and I have to admit I would like to see a Romney v. Obama contest just for the intellectual debates! At the risk of being politically pounded I’m still going to ask, What do you think?
Update: The site I just mentioned turned out to be more biased than I originally thought. This is a better comparison chart I think because it gives the candidates views in a few sentences.

I think I heard Hillary say, “I TOTALLY tried to shake Obama’s hand, and he, like, totally turned the other way!… Oh, I’m gonna be late for class… Text me!”

I did it. I went to read the Seven Steps for this week and did one of them today! These are all of the expired medicines from my cabinets. I thought the little trash can would hold it all but had to expand to the shoe box. The oldest thing I found were some cough drops that expired in 2000! Now I have a long list of things I need to update my supply. I never check dates before I give medicine, so at least I know that any medicine I give to my sick babies will be current with full potency.

This morning was Hunter’s first violin concert. He did an awesome job. I just wish I had brought the video camera! They played through Jingle Bells, Twinkle Twinkle, Two Step March, and Ode to Joy. Rob and I loved watching him play and were so proud! He hates to practice of course, but I’m hoping that after his performance today he’ll be glad I make him do it.
Before – Tuning Up
During the encore of Two Step March
Afterwards – Great job Hunter!

A few weeks ago we had a satellite Stake Conference and our prophet, President Gordon B Hinckley, spoke to us. He looked a little unsteady, but delivered a wonderful message about the importance of respect within marriage and family. It was pretty clear that his testimony and concern for all was still strong and vibrant even if his body was fading. So it wasn’t too surprising to hear of his passing tonight. He mentioned frequently that he missed his wife terribly after her passing, so it is comforting to know that he is now with her again.
There is a very nice article about his full life on the Deseret Morning News:
President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through explosive growth during his more than 12 years as president, died at 7 p.m. today of causes incident to age, surrounded by family. He was 97.
He traveled the world during his tenure, which was marked by a number of significant milestones, including the “Proclamation to the World on the Family,” construction of dozens of small temples and the creation of several new quorums of the Seventy. He called for increased fellowshipping of new converts and reaching out to other faiths. Church membership has grown from 9 million to more than 13 million members during his administration.
His ministry was characterized by a strong desire to be out among the people. He traveled more than half a million miles and spoke to hundreds of thousands of members in more than 60 nations, employing his mastery of electronic media to bring unprecedented press attention to the church.
