Super Tuesday
I’m starting to do a little study of the candidates now that the field has narrowed quite a bit and we are getting closer to February 5, “Super Tuesday.” I am not registered under any party, so I will not be able to vote in the Republican race. The Democrats will let me vote, so I still feel like I can have some say. I take that seriously because here in California the democrats are the majority so our state’s delegates will likely go blue on election day. I found this comparison site, and I haven’t been through it in depth, but it seems to have legitimate sources. I feel like McCain is the weaker of the two republican candidates, and a nomination for him would secure victory for the democrat’s candidate regardless of who it is. Romney seems to be better prepared for a battle for the presidency. Obama seems to be a better pick over Clinton to me, and I have to admit I would like to see a Romney v. Obama contest just for the intellectual debates! At the risk of being politically pounded I’m still going to ask, What do you think?
Update: The site I just mentioned turned out to be more biased than I originally thought. This is a better comparison chart I think because it gives the candidates views in a few sentences.
I got a call a while ago and they wanted me to take a survey. I was feeling extra chipper and said yes. It was a political survey and I felt like a total idiot. I am sure the guy was thinking “Do you live in this country? Do you care about your future?” I really need to get informed.
I’m w/you Amy! I’d ultimately like to see it come down to Obama & Romney!
You dared! And I am going to respond!!!
Its funny because some think our countries are somewhat the same, but aside from our consumible goods, we are very different. We are socialist and you are capitalist. It makes a huge difference. Everyone up here likes the democrats, because they are like us, they want the Goverment to play a more active role, Bigger Government. And the Repuplicans, traditionaly like smaller government, more self reliance (to some degree). But I am a little disillusioned by how Americans choose who they are going to suppport, it seems like a popularity contest rather than by any issues. For instance McCain last night in the Debate sounded like a WarMonger (bad spelling) and he even agrees that the economy isn’t his strong point (he is now trying to retract that) but for a country who is not pleased with the current War, I am shocked that McCain has so much support. When asked about the Economy last night in the debate McCain somehow avoided the question, and answered it with his Military Career citing that because he lead squadrons he can take on the economy??? And yet today Schwarzenegger endorsed him, did he not hear him last night? I thought that was what Governor Schwarzenegger ran on to help clean up the economy, It was Amazing!! I am not sure if I am a huge Romney fan, but I have heard the cries before as why more business people don’t run for office, and now a successful business man is running and in a time when your economy is failing. I’m just shocked. Don’t get me on Clinton, she is scary.
Sorry about that. Thats all I am going to say, but I will Look forward to another political post!! That is if you dare!!!…
I don’t want a president who, when asked what one of their biggest challenges is, responds with, “My hair.”
Anne- I love that you are so knowledgeable about it all and live in Canada! I think you are right about Americans caring too much about popularity and I think they are also relying too much on the media to get irrelevant information (ie. the whole Clinton/Obama snub story). Ironically, the media seems unable to give an objective view of it all. Hmmm… I missed the Republican debate so I’ll try to catch some highlights. I think the Democrats debate tonight right? I need to watch that one for sure.
Ron Paul for President 2008. Love his policies.
I think I embarresed myself! But i am junkie! I think Ron Paul would be very intersting, I loved his contribution to the debate the other night! I can’t wait for super Tuesday!!!
Anne don’t be embarrased. I think it is great. I need to get more involved. I agree with you and it being a popularity race. I think it is anoying that stars jump in and try to influence people. I am NOT dumb enough to vote for someone when I don’t know what they stand for even if my favorite all time star is helping lead their campaign. I just don’t know who to vote for YET.
http://realclearpolitics.com/about.html is a good site for info
Just all too soon to call. A whole lot could change during the next six months. This Summer & Fall will be hot!
I’m so confused, I don’t feel like I even know where to begin sometimes. I do know that I cannot stand Hilary though, and want no part of her getting into the white house.
I just watched the Republican debate last night on a re-broadcast and I see what you’re saying Anne. That was a crazy debate because it seems like McCain is just like Bush. He just picks a topic, and doesn’t give it up even when it doesn’t make any sense. Like the whole thing with the timetables argument between him and Romney. It was unbelievable how stubborn he was even after being corrected by Romney and Cooper. I think it’s all crazy, but fascinating to watch. I think I might do one more political post…
