Our New Wolf

Hunter just had his first pack meeting as a cub scout this week. It was a lot of fun. The families all came with blankets and folding chairs to a park for the first pack meeting of this year. We noticed that picnic dinners have become 90% fast food or pizza. We were part of the pizza crowd. It just seems easier than packing a basket full of sandwiches, drinks, napkins, utensils, etc. Our world is different now than it was when I was a kid. After dinner and the introduction of the new wolves, the boys all worked on earning a belt loop. I think it’s pretty interesting that Hunter’s first merit badge was for “Ultimate Frisbee.” Scouts has gone urban! The boys all ran around and worked really well together and then were awarded their belt loops. Hunter had a great time, and I think he is going to really enjoy scouts!

Congratulations Hunter! Good Job on your merit badge! And Amy I know what you mean about the picnics. We still try to pack our own, but I see why it can be easier to go the other route too sometimes. And boy, does Hunter ever look like Rob to me in that picture!

I can’t get past the fact that Hunter is in scouts! Wow! I bet he was good at ultimate frisbee…even when he was tiny he was good at throwing a frisbee. Looks like you are in for lots of fun Hunter!

Amy, I just read through your pieces here and I am so amazed at all you do. Being a mother of such quality is not to be taken lightly. I remember Rob when he was a little tyke and Hunter reminds me of him in ways. If you think life seems changed from when you were a kid I also identify with that but we just have different circumstances but the things we face are the same. I think you are doing so well. Raising the next generation in todays circumstances is courageous at times….and a lot of fun. Seems like lonely work too but it will all pay off. Keep on Keeping on…
