TVs in Bedrooms?

This morning Hunter and Emma were telling me how terrible it is that they don’t have their own TV in their bedrooms. Hunter started naming off friends that do, and Emma said ALL of the kids from her class do. I said, “I happen to know that Ashley doesn’t.” I am good friends with her mom, so I could call Emma on that one. She then replied, “ok, two kids out of my whole class…” But she didn’t finish because I started laughing and she could see I wasn’t going to change my mind. I like to know what my kids are watching and feel like one TV is plenty. Emma said when she grows up she will definitely have one in her room, and Hunter said he’ll let all of his kids have one in their rooms. We’ll see…. What do you think? Agree, Disagree?

Amy, I agree with you 100%! Mine have been begging me forever, and I will not cave on this one. My kids pull the same thing, telling me all of their friends have or can do such and such and why can’t they have it or do it too. If my kids had a TV in their rooms they would never come out, and there is way too much on TV that I don’t approve of them watching. They’ll thank us when their grown!

We have already decided that there is no way our kids will have TVs in their rooms either! As if kids these days don’t already watch too much TV. So, how early are kids asking for cell phones? I guess that might be next. I remember being little and asking for a phone in our room. That was the big deal then.

Gary and I have a solid rule of NO TV’s in ANY of the bedrooms (including ours) and I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Well Mark and I do have one in our bedroom. I didn’t like it when we were first married, but now I’m used to it. And the plan for the baby room is to have one for me, during late night feedings, but when the kiddo gets old enough it will be removed. I agree that they’ll never come out of their room if a TV is in there and that you cant keep an eye on what they’re watching.
