What are your thoughts?

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

In reading over the assignment for this week, this passage in the Bible caught my eye. Instead of pontificating on it’s meaning to me, this time I’d like to hear what your thoughts are…

I’ve been thinking a lot about this kind of thing lately. When the Virginia Tech shootings happened, I was sad…but not shocked. I realized that I was turning somewhat numb to tragedy. I could see how, after a surge of continual tragedy due to the unrighteous decisions of others, we, as a society would eventually become numb. I think that love “wax[ing] cold” will be a natural consequence as people try to cope with all the difficult challenges. It will be difficult, and possibly dangersous, to be a trusting person in the last days. I think we will soon have to work hard to maintain a compassionate heart.

I agree with Holly, my thought exactly. Holly said it better than I could though. Thanks Hollers

I’m glad I let Holly write this one for me. She really did nail it. I also think it’s easy to become hard-hearted when your personal life is not in order. I find that the more I worry about myself and wallow in my own self-pity, the less I am able to comfort and be sympathetic to others. I think that is why there is such an emphasis on service and charity in the gospel as well.

    Amy,
I agree. Unless we are willing to “loose ourselves in the service of others” we will never truly find ourselves. I too love your thought provoking gospel posts.
