The Digital Photography Book
Yes, it is a simple title, and it is a simple book written by Scott Kelby. That’s why I like it so much! This book is great if you have a digital camera that you can set manually, but especially an SLR since he mentions a lot about filters and different lens options. Each page gives you a simple explanation for how to take a certain kind of shot. He’s got things like flower close-ups, bridal photos, landscapes, and sports. One thing that I didn’t give enough credit to that he kept bringing up was using a tri-pod to keep the camera steady. He even suggests using the auto timer on extreme close ups so that there is not vibration from your finger pushing the button.
I haven’t used a whole lot of what I’ve read yet because most of my pictures are snapshots of the kids lately. But I have also signed up for a community class on lighting, and hope to get some more practice soon. The two keys to photography seem to be a sharp focus, and great lighting. Well, and I guess composition too. If you like photography, want some pointers, but don’t want to mess with a lot of info about apertures and f-stops, this is the book for you.
Thanks Amy, I will for sure be looking into this book since I need some pointers and help for sure with my picture taking. I want to get better and learn how to get the best out of my camera too. And I like “easy”, it makes it easier to comprehend and actually apply what your reading about instead of struggling to even grasp what in the heck they’re trying to say. So was this book instrumental in getting the great pic for your April Fools photo? :0
I love my SLR and would recommend photo books if you haven’t already gotten into them. Walmart, Snapfish, and winkflash (just to name a few) all offer them. They are way cheaper and faster than scrapbooking and they look great. I was going to do a blog about mine to show people, I think that you’d love it Amy. You were a great photographer even before you digital days I remember the b & w pics that you had of your kids when you lived in Provo, really great!
I really want to learn more about photography. I love taking pictures. I will have to get this book to help my picture taking skills since I currently don’t have many. Thanks Amy.
